Summary
When Contax first appeared, the lens line, with nothing between 45mm and 80mm. had a huge hole that the 55mm ably fills.
Very similar to a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera. Wonderful perspective, sharp as a tack.

Strengths
Standard Zeiss color palate saturation.

Weaknesses
None that I could find.

Lens has not needed it yet. Body required a $370 replacement part after 2 years. ouch.

Summary
This is a very sharp and compact lense. Sharpness is comparable to the 80 mm. It is good focal lengh between 80 and 45 or 35 mm. Good for landscape and tight corner indoor shoots.
