Summary
I have used MonacoProof since version 3.2. Anyone familiar with EZ color will be instantly at home with the common family interface.
the latest version, 3.6, has been improved in a number of ways, and the printer and monitor profiles it generates are of professional quality, and very accurate. I have not used the scanner module, as I have seperate profiling software for that purpose.
You need a decent spectrophotometer to get the best from it. I use a Spectrocam, which unfortunately is not supported for monitor profiling (I believe the Eye-One is, however).
MonacoProof sometimes seems forgotten, as it sits between the entry level EZ color, and the very powerful and expensive MonacoProfiler. Vesion 3.6 is a big improvement over earlier versions, with better output profile accuracy, reflected in nice Photoshop soft proofs. However, the best results seem to come from using Relative Colormetric rendering intent.
It would be nice to see MonacoProof offer the option to build profiles for specific lighting conditions, e.g. daylight, tungsten, or flourescent.
Strengths
Accurate, editable, professional quality profiles. Easy to use, but powerful.
Weaknesses
It is still a lot of money for anyone not making their living from imaging. Gamut viewing module does not work in Windows version.
