Summary
This is a no-fault offering. The 553 ELX has never gone down. It is built to NASA standards, and made to the take heat and cold like no other product. The 553 ELX is the standard that other are judged against.

Summary
A very versitile camera that I would recommend to anyone, esp. the ELD model. It should be used on a tripod, but not necessary. The auto mirror lockup is a real plus and that's what really sets this camera apart from the rest.
Strengths
It's a wonderful camera. Very easy to use. What sets this camera apart from say a 503CW with motor is that you can have it automatically lock up the mirror after each exposure. A must have if you use long exposures. Very responsive.
Weaknesses
heavy, takes 5 batteries (not 6 or 4...always odd), the battery cover coin lock area can break easily. Super glue took care of that though.
Similar Products Used
500 c/m, motorized and non-motorized 35mm equipment, 4x5 cameras.
Customer Service
when my 120mm lens jammed and the blades got messed up and it wouldn't come off the camera body Hasselblad got it off within a week or two.

Summary
Shoot this camera . either on location , or in the studio . . . ( never use at the ceremony where noise is not needed ) . As I said . . . it is very responsive , just a wonderful feel .... I suggest a PM,RM type finder . Wtih that combination your eye never leaves the viewfinder ... you can actually focus & shoot with your right hand . I do & I'm left handed . It's no wonder that NASA continues to use this camera .
Strengths
Fast & very responsive .... the true workhorse of the line .
Weaknesses
problems at times with the proper seating of batteries , however . . never cost me an exposure .
Similar Products Used
Yes ... the Hasselblad 503CW W/winder . I own it ... rarely use w/winder that is . setup pales in comparison to El mod
Customer Service
always pleased .
