Summary
Well, I didn't see any reviews for this one, so I thought I'd give my thoughts. First of all, I am very loyal to the minolta brand cameras. I bought this one before looking at other options. Unfortunately, this is pretty much the only option in this price range. I am not a huge fan of APS, but for a fun point and shoot camera, it seems logical. Anyway, I am on my second one of these now. The first one I had worked very well for about a year. I took it snorkling, rafting, to the beach and all sorts on places like that. It worked great. The quality of prints are a bit shy of my maxxum 7, though. :) OK, they are wayyyyy shy of it, but for what it is, it does well. The reason I am on my second one though is a bit more disappointing. The lens started to fog up, making the photos I've taken look soft and pretty crummy. I can't tell you why, because I don't know. This could have been something I did, but I don't think so. Since I don't know if this was my fault or not, I can't judge the camera based on this. What I can judge it on is the second one, which survived one roll of film, and that was it. I work in a long's photo lab, so I took mine back and traded it for our display model. I thought that was pretty fortunate, until I got it home. I put one roll in, and it came out great. It was just a little outdoor test on a 15 exp roll. I took it rafting again, and second roll of film I put in did not go so well. It would not advance. The motor just kept winding and winding, but nothing. Then it would flash on the lcd that there was a problem. I tried another roll of film...same thing. This, I think is Minolta's fault. Unfortunately, the camera is not worth fixing, so I decided to upgrade. I still like this little camera, and when I can find a good deal, I will get another. Yes, the camera was defective, but it is built like a tank. It is heavy and seems pretty well made for its cost. I am still happy with what I got out of my hundred bucks. That's what's important right?
Strengths
Durable, pretty good picture quality, self timer, three picture sizes, and best of all...IT'S YELLOW!
Weaknesses
Lens can tend to fog up and motor drive system needs some work.
