Summary
I think that the Sony Mavica is a great product for family gatherings or other pre-planned destinations (weddings, etc). It is just too large to bring with you for spur of the moment photographs. I love the flexibility of being able to use either a floppy or card. Photographs are very good quality. I am considering getting another camera just so that I'll be able to keep it with me at all times (either in the car or in my pocketbook).

Strengths
Picture quality, easy to use, flexibility of floppy or card.

Weaknesses
SIZE. It is too big and clunky to just carry around with you. The other weakness I find is that I would prefer to have a viewfinder, or at least the option of a viewfinder besides the LCD screen. In the sun you cannot even see the picture.

Similar Products Used
This is my first digital camera. I've had it for about two to three years. I truly love being able to make the photographs myself (since I never seemed to bring film to be developed!). Just wish it were smaller.

Summary
I've had my camera a little over a year now..and I Love it.. It's good for the beginner as well as the experienced camera operator..I especially like the ability to use a memory stick as well as the floppy..My Mother owns the MVC 73 of which is a good camera and she has had hers for approx. 2 years..and wishes she would have waited on got the MVC92..I like the feature of being able to record sound with a picture as well as taking a movie clip.. There are MANY Good features to the camera and would recommend it to anyone..

Strengths
I feel the camera has many strengths as I stated in my review summary..The Flash is great..and takes great pictures even in total darkness with using the flash.. The memory stick is also and added feature and being able to download from the memory stick to a floppy in case someone wants a picture immediately..you can just copy it there on the spot.

Weaknesses
The only weekness that I've found with this camera is the LCD screen scratches pretty easy..I do have a case for it..that I use all the time..but even in the case it moves around..and carrying around your neck..it will rub your chest and will scratch the screen..

Similar Products Used
I've used alot of cameras in my life.. from regular snap shots..to 35mm and the ease and quality of these pictures far exceed any I've ever taken with any of them..

Customer Service
I've never had to use it

Summary
Very good all-around digital camera. All my friends beg to use it or buy it from me. Very intuitive and easy to learn. No need to read manual. (good for guys). floppy comes in handy for real estate or sharing images with others. You can copy floppies right on the spot

Strengths
Optical zoom is far more than most others. I think it's 8x opt + 8x digital for a total of 16x. Nice quality photos at any resolution! simple to use, yet packed with features. You can take up to 1 minute videos with sound. Great for the 1-2 year olds as they learn to talk and walk, etc. Great battery life. Battery charges right in the camera. memory stick is great too!

Weaknesses
The only weakness to speak of is SIZE! It is a monstor and barely fits into my jacket pocket. This large size is to accomodate the floppy disk.

Summary
I have had this camera for 5 weeks and keep finding more&more useable features. You can take a picture then while viewing it you can zoom the pic to any size you want then just click the shutter to take a picture of the zoomed image, this is done without distubing the original. Also with the digital zoom on you can take a picture zoomed in to the max then while viewing you can zoom it in even further(What a feature for animal watchingalso could be useful in security measures.

Strengths
Has so many hard to pick any certain ones. The two recording medias shines,ms is faster & I think the images might be slightly better than the floppies

Weaknesses
Hard to zero in on one but the auto focus could be better, but if you preess the focus button the the front you can improve focus somewhat.

Summary
I was first exposed to the Mavica series at work - we used FD75 for product build and test verification (among other things). The ability to use the camera and immediately walk away with stored media was very appealing - no running back and forth to a computer, easy to just give floppy to a friend, or to drop floppy into product data packs. Normal focus is good, but the macro capability is phenomenal - zoom in on microelectronics, coins, flowers, bugs - it's astounding. No view finder, but you easily become accustomed to the LCD. Allows user to set many variables; format, size, quality, focus (although has great autofocus), date/time, image presets, and many others. The camera, as kitted for sale, comes with everything except storage media. It is capable of 2 modes of storage; floppy or memory stick. Aside from battery recharging equipment, it comes with USB port connector harness, and cable harness to connect the camera to the television for viewing as well (haven't tried it yet). Comes with nice Sony logo neck strap, and tethered lens cap. Camera is aesthetically pleasing, and has good overall quality appeal - consistent with Sony products. I was considering the FD87, but for $100 more, I more than doubled the optical/digital zoom, and got two storage modes (floppy/memory stick). Many competitors, but for my needs the FD92 gets the buy!

Strengths
Size is good ergonomically; well fit to the hand - buttons in good location. Zoom is great considering pricier neighbors; 8X-opt, 16X-dig -put money into optics over pixel count. Macro focus capability is great - major distinction. At lowest pic size, you can take a lot of pictures on a floppy - more than adequate for my needs (work & internet). Portability of storage media - hey, who can't handle a floppy. User interface in LCD is very intuitive - easy to navigate, and change settings. Durability - very solid feel, resilient to inadvertent bumps. Battery life is very good. Great value (feature + quality per dollar).

Weaknesses
Time delay inhibits spontaneous capture of subject - not exactly a point and shoot camera. Flash can be overpowering.
