Summary
Very easy to use camera! Have not had a problem with it in my 5 years of use! The only time you will have a problem such as that described by the other users on this website is if you do not read the owners manual and idiotically replace the rechargeable Sanyo batteries with other batteries. Although the camera will function somewhat with regular batteries, it will shut down most of it's functions without the proper batteries installed. This is the best camera I have ever had and I have went from amateur to professional photographer in these past few years just with the beautiful shots I have taken with this Sanyo cam!
Strengths
Beautifully designed, LCD screen, super fast photos, less than a second to view photos immediately after they are taken, audio and video clips can be recorded
Weaknesses
You MUST use the batteries it comes with: Sanyo Twicell 1600 Rechargeable batteries! Regular batteries do not provide enough strength to operate the LCD screen and options! If you can't read an owner's manual, you will have problems with any modern product- so take the time and don't blame the camera- this is a wonderful product! FLAWLESS!
Similar Products Used
Numerous digital and regular cameras, professional grade and standard- I highly recommend this Sanyo VPC-x360 above many others including Hewlett-Packard
Customer Service
I have never had to contact customer service as this product has never given me any trouble- most issues are discussed in the owners manual and are the user's fault

Summary
Camera performed well out of box. Set up was easy, evan though I did not read the manuel. I choose the camera because of the added rechargable batteries and charger. I used the camera for a period of over a year and a half when It started to give me some problems. In the meantime I had purchased one for my son at Christmas time. Now the camera will not operate. When I press the mode button the camera shuts down. Just this weekend my daughter in law complained of the same problem she is having with the one that I gave them.
Weaknesses
Camera is not uasble after only a year and a half of use. Same problem exists on the same camera given to my son.

Summary
I have used this camera for almost three years now, snapping away at anything that has come in my path. The 0.85 megapixel pic size is not fantastic, but for on-screen viewing and for photocard-size printing it has satisfied me up til now. Picture quality is not very impressive, but it is enough for party pictures and utility photos, just to remember what you saw. Low-light conditions are a bit tricky, but it can still take a lot of abuse. Just keep your hand still in the Night-mode.
Startup is pretty speedy, VERY GOOD LCD with good response to movement and little trouble with sunlight, it's very small, having fitted in to many a pocket, and I have even shot a couple of videos with it. Although the videos are a bit rudimentary and the sound is quite weak, when you imagine three years ago it was quite a sensation (and still is now and then).
I cannot agree that downloading is quick, it's just serial. I use a 32MB card in it, and taking a couple of movies takes a lot of download time. A card reader is very much recommended.
Zoom is only available in 640x480 mode, and in the end it means that you get a cu-out from when you would use the 1024x768 mode, so it is not very interesting to use.
I was very impressed by the battery life, especially compared to an Olypmus my father bought. I have gone around entire days using the LCD and shooting about 200 pictures on one set of two NiMH batteries. Very economical.
All in all, a very compact quick-to-use camera with no very special features but for its purpose no big minuses either.
Strengths
Small size, battery life, simple handling
Weaknesses
Picture quality, video sound, slow connection to pc (use a SmartMedia reader for cards above 16MB)

Summary
Even tho I haven't had the camera long, I love it! I two others before this one, and they just weren't as good for one reason or another. Even tho it's not a USB connection for the PC, it's amazingly fast with the serial. I think I'm going to really enjoy it for a long time! It does a great job!
Strengths
small compact size, easy to use
Weaknesses
no zoom, no USB

Summary
I started with a Ricoh RDC-2 which I was impressed with. (Though resolution is low by todays standards, I'm still impressed with it and we still sometimes use it).
I upgraded to an Olympus C2000Z shortly after thay came out. I still have it and use it when I want better pix than the Sanyo can make.
I wanted something smaller to carry ALL the time, and have with me on the motorcycle. I looked at all the models and sizes and finally found the Sanyo at Sears for a decent price. It has no zoom and res is lower than the 2000Z, but size mattered.
I am quite satisfied with the pix from the VPC-X360. I wasn't expecting the quality of the C2000Z so I was not disappointed. Most of my pix go on the web so the Sanyo is really MORE than I absolutely need for those. Agfa Photo Genie does a good job too.
All but the Blujays on the image URL page were taken with the Sanyo.
