Summary
I just have to update a few more things. As i mentioned earlier the digital stills are bad.But one thing it can take is close up (macro) with incredible sharpness. Very good if you take close-up product photographs as i do. And also you can use the camera as a portable USB storage for your computer files using a SD memory card. when you connect this camcoder via the usb it comes up as an extra drive . It is just to drag and drop your files into the drive. This is great as you can take your files or whatever in a memory card when you travel or save your work from an another computer. SD cards are available upto 1gb. The original battery doesnt last long. under one hour more like 30 safe mins!

Weaknesses
The original battery doesnt last long. under one hour more like 30 safe mins! so buy a higher capacity battery as an extra power source.

Summary
Well, its just been a few days since i used it. But here are the first impessions anyway. If you are basing your buy thinking it has a digital still capapility ..forget it. it just doesnt have it. But then it is supposed to be a digital video camera. The picture quality is quite good. really good because i have only Hi 8 to compare. The size is just right. I think if you are shy about taking around your video camera ..then its perfect. The upright position just seems right. Very easy to get all the basic controls within your finger tips. you end up using your thump mostly. But then if you want to come to menu it is anouther story. The flat buttons are not really responsive. I would have preffered a slightly more bulging setup. This makes you crazy really. outdoors the W/B was good but indoors you have to have a white card and set the WB (white balance) yourself to get the colours right. Even doing it outdoors makes a slight difference. I am goinfg to carry a white card with me all the time. its enough to have the same size as the camera and have it in its case. The camera is fragile. You would be wanting to take care of it. I have a strange feeling that someday something might happen. But then i have only used it for a few days. this are only the first impressions. I might put up a extented review after my india and thailand trip in winter.

Strengths
The size and the way it sits perfectly in your hand. The picture quality. All those inputs and outputs.

Weaknesses
Bad digital stills. Fragile.
